Looking back on the past year and a half, about the amount of time that I’ve been doing P90X, Insanity, and One on One consistently, it occurred to me that my body isn’t the only thing that these programs have changed. Over this period of time I’ve learned a lot about fitness, nutrition, and most of all, myself. I found the lessons learned from surviving these intense programs are applicable in all facets of life.
Here’s a BEFORE and AFTER of a P90X mind.
BEFORE:
1. I can’t do it.
2. It won’t work for me.
3. I don’t deserve it.
4. That isn’t what I want.
5. It’s too much work.
6. Those people are different.
7. What’s the point?
AFTER:
1. I CAN AND WILL DO IT! I MAKE NO EXCUSES AND ACCEPT ONLY RESULTS.
2. IT WORKS IF I WORK! BOTTOM LINE: IT REQUIRES WORK. I WORK! IT REQUIRES DISCIPLINE. I ACT WITH DISCIPLINE. IT REQUIRES CONSISTENCY. I AM CONSISTENT.
3. I ABSOLUTELY DESERVE IT, AND AM WILLING TO DO WHAT IT TAKES TO GET IT! BECAUSE I AM SO WORTH THE EFFORT.
4. OHHHHH, YES IT IS. IT’S DEFINITELY WHAT I WANT.
5. HARD WORK IS THE ONLY THING THAT GETS RESULTS, PERIOD! WHAT’S THAT THING THEY SAY ABOUT HARD WORK REVEALING CHARACTER? WHAT SIDE OF THAT EQUATION DO I WANT TO BE ON?
6. PEOPLE ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME PHYSICALLY. IT COMES DOWN TO DESIRE, WHO WANTS IT BAD ENOUGH, AND WHO IS WILLING TO GO THE EXTRA MILE TO GET IT. AGAIN, WHAT ONE OF THESE DO I WANT TO BE?
7. THE POINT IS THAT I CAN LIVE THE REST OF MY LIFE WITH AN EMPOWERED MINDSET. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT I CAN ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING I SET MY MIND TO, PROVIDED I AM WILLING TO DO THE WORK INVOLVED. THE POSSIBILITIES ARE LIMITLESS. WHAT COULD BE BETTER?
